Dr Nina van Volkinburg

Dr. Nina Van Volkinburg is a trained ethnographer and educator focused on sustainability and digital disruption within the fashion industry. Next to lecturing at London College of Fashion, Fashion Business School she regularly comments on contemporary developments within fashion business and has been featured on BBC World News, The Guardian, and Business Insider, among others.

Nina is the Co-founder and Chief Sustainability Officer at RETURE  an ecosystem for sustainable fashion. RETURE features the world’s first fashion upcycling platform and is a fashion marketplace offering sustainable womenswear, menswear, and accessories based on criteria from the UNSDGS. A focus on circular economy and supporting emerging fashion talents is always rooted in Nina’s work both in higher education and industry.
