Andrew Dabeka
Andrew Dabeka is one of Canada’s most accomplished badminton players, best known for his excellence in men’s singles. Born in 1978 in Ottawa, Dabeka reached a career-high world ranking of 20th in 2005. He represented Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and secured multiple prestigious titles, including the 2008 U.S. Open and the 2005 Pan American Championships.
Following his retirement as a six-time national champion, Andrew transitioned into an elite coaching career. He first served as a coach for the Swiss National Team before returning home to lead the Canadian National Team on the international stage. For the past six years, he has been based in Switzerland, where he is currently the Head Coach at Badminton Club Zuerich, continuing to influence the sport at both the professional and grassroots levels.
